The Institution was started on 23^rd August 1997 as a unit of Marthandam Integrated Development Society (MIDS), named as Kanyakumari Community College with the aim and objective of creating self confidence among young generation by providing valuable skills and training to secure full employment and self employment. The founder of the institution is Rev.Fr. Prem Kumar, MSW. The college was started with several job oriented diploma programmes. All the diploma courses were self designed in accordance with fulfilling requirement of manpower skills in the present business scenario. The curriculum for job oriented commerce based diploma courses was designed in accordance with the University norms by Prof.V.Arul Justin Dhas and his team members of the college.
