Industrial Visit & Seminar on Import-Export Process

   Kanyakumari Community College with its premier unit, Malankara School of Commerce, Mariagiri, successfully organized an Industrial Visit & Seminar on the Import-Export Process for students on March 10, 2025. The visit to DP World, ICTT Vallarpadam, Cochin Port provided students with firsthand insights into global trade and logistics.
  The team departed on March 9 and arrived in Kochi early the next day. After a short visit to Basilica Vallarpadam, the group proceeded to DP World, ICTT Vallarpadam, where ... officials warmly welcomed them. An informative session by Ms. Revathi highlighted DP World’s global operations, followed by a guided tour led by Mr. Sunil, Shift Manager, who explained container handling, port operations, and international trade procedures.
  In the afternoon, a seminar on the Import-Export Process was conducted, featuring Capt. K. Charles Antony, Director of Marine Operations & Business Consultant, Sultanate of Oman & UAE, as the resource person. His session covered essential topics like export-import documentation, trade procedures, and career opportunities in global commerce.
  Following the seminar, the team visited ICGS SAMARTH, an Indian Coast Guard warship, where Mr. S. Ajaya Kumar, Retd. Subordinate Officer, Indian Coast Guard, provided insights into maritime security and defense operations.
  This educational initiative successfully bridged theoretical learning with real-world industrial exposure, offering valuable insights into the dynamic field of global trade.

Field Study on Import and Export

  On 21/3/2023, Malankara School of Commerce, A unit of Kanyakumari Community College, Mariagiri, organized a field study on Import and Export for the Students of DFTIED at Diamond Shipping Agencies Pvt. Ltd. (DSA) and VOC Port, Tuticorin.
  During the field study, the Manager of ... DSA, Mr. Bhasha, explained the process and procedure involved in Clearing and Forwarding (C&F) agency and the role of Diamond CFS Park. The students freely interacted with him, and he answered their queries with patience and clarity.
  Total of 43 Students and 3 Faculties participated in the program. This field study provided the students with practical insights into the role of CFS.
  The visit to the V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority gave them a better understanding of port operations. The field study was an excellent opportunity for the students to learn from industry experts and gain practical experience in their field of study.
